Costa Maya Cruise Comfort

I know that as a cruiser, sometimes you just want some sunshine. You just want to swim and tan yourself and not be bothered with exploring anything or doing any sort of shopping for cool authentic trinkets. Well, with a cruise to Costa Maya you may have found your spot. Costa Maya is on the Eastern coast of Mexico, surrounded by jungle. Back a few years ago, in the middle of this vast jungle, some developers decided to build a new tourist stop for cruise passengers. They put a large dock and developed some touristy t shirt shops centered around a large swimming pool. There is no sandy beach here, but there are some excursions you can do, like swimming with dolphins.

Outside of the main complex, there are a few shops and restaurants, a nice walking path with some really interesting artwork and a large, but fake Mayan temple with a waterfall. Its nice, but outside of this Disneyland type cruise port, there is only jungle. I stopped here only once, but that was more than enough for now. I understand that a new beach resort has opened up down the road if you want a beach experience‚Ķfor a price! If you’re looking for an authentic Mexico experience, this isn’t it, but if you just want a nice, clean, touristy stop off for a beer or two, then bottoms up.
